4iG Nyrt. is one of the leading companies in the Hungarian IT and ICT market. One of the group’s members, One Magyarország Zrt., is a leading provider of television, broadband internet and telephone services.

Moving this customer base between different service packages is a challenge for the marketing department to plan annual revenues.

The solution is Jedox, where, by entering complex business rules, customer movements are automatically calculated based on basic data, with the introduction of various proportionality factors (e.g. seasonality) that influence customer movements. The interesting feature of the system is that by entering a few tens of numbers, about 2 million cells of plan data are calculated based on basic factual data. It would be impossible to produce planning data with this resolution using, for example, Excel alone. Since these rules can be used not only to generate the plan but also the forecasts, an unlimited number of scenarios and forecasts can be generated based on different criteria, e.g. optimistic-pessimistic estimates, etc.

This data can then be compared with the plan data. This data can then be compared with the already loaded tens of millions of factual data cells per year with a few clicks, all from an in-memory database with response times of seconds. Another interesting aspect of the project is that the employees were able to load, model and report on Jedox themselves after only a few weeks, demonstrating how intuitive the system is and how easy it is to learn.
