BARC Score ranks MicroStrategy among market leaders
Overview
The 10th edition of the BARC (Business Application Research Center – one of Europe's leading independent business software analyst firms specializing in BI & Analytics) Score Enterprise BI & Analytics Platforms evaluates the leading international vendors of modern enterprise business intelligence and analytics platforms based on a comprehensive set of criteria and customer reviews.
This year’s BARC Score analyzes the strengths and challenges of the leading vendors that provide significant value to customers looking to implement an enterprise BI and analytics platform to support advanced needs across the organization, not just at the team level.
Criteria
Inclusion criteria
To be considered, a vendor must have a strong focus on providing BI & analytics functionality and delivery, such as including formatted reports, dashboards, analysis and ad hoc query, advanced and predictive analytics, and self-service BI & analytics. In addition, the vendor must generate a minimum of €15 million in annual license revenue across at least two separate geographic regions.
Evaluation criteria
Each vendor is evaluated on two dimensions, portfolio capabilities and market execution.
Portfolio capabilities: Standardized content, data, infrastructure, analyses (including advanced analytics), portfolio, and user support.
Market execution markers: BI & analytics platform offering, market distribution of product, product strategy, customer satisfaction, financials, development, geographic coverage, ecosystem, sales strategy, organizational strength, and marketing strategy.
Results
Calculating the individual ratings for all criteria and all vendors produces two scores for each company (portfolio capabilities score and market execution score), which are plotted on the appropriate axis, resulting in the vendor’s dot on the following BARC Score chart.
